What is GDPR?
The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is a regulation and legal framework in EU law related to the protection and privacy of personal information of individuals within the European Union (EU). You can learn about the GDPR here.
GDPR and BetaTesting
At BetaTesting, we take your privacy and security seriously and we aim to operate with transparency and fairness and continually improve our service. We began preparing for the EU General Data Protection Regulation prior to the law coming into affect and continue to be dedicated to GDPR compliance now and into the future. We respect all laws that apply to our business and this includes GDPR.
While the GDPR regulations afford additional rights and protections to people residing within the EU, our Privacy Policy provides all users with provide greater transparency and control of your personal information. We also added additional features and functionality on our Services to allow you to better control your data and settings directly through our platform, along with a support section to more easily get answers to your questions about privacy and any other support issues.
Important GDPR Data Subject Rights
The GDPR is aimed to protect the privacy and security of all EU citizens, and to that effect there are a number of provisions that apply to data subject rights, some of which are summarized below:
Transparency in communication - Information or communication to data subjects must be concise, transparent, intelligible and easily accessible, and use clear and plain language.
Access personal data - The right to know if their personal data is being processed, and have access to the personal data and various information about the processing.
Rectification and erasure (right to be forgotten) - The right to have inaccurate personal data corrected or erased.
Data portability - The right to receive the personal information you’ve provided in a machine readable format and the right to provide that data to another service.
Right to object - The right to object and opt out of certain types of processing.
How does BetaTesting process personal information?
In short, BetaTesting processes personal information as required to provide our services and for other limited reasons spelled out in our Privacy Policy.
In providing our services, we work with both customers and participants. Customers use our services to run various types of testing and user research projects. Participants sign up for BetaTesting with the purpose of receiving invites and participating in user research projects. You can read more about how we collect, use, and share your information, and the choices and rights you have in our privacy policy. We have used easy-to-understand language wherever possible and provided examples throughout our privacy policy so you can understand what this means for you or your company.
Who is the controller of your information and how can you exercise your rights?
For information that you provide through the BetaTesting platform, we are the controller of that information as it is used, stored, and processed within our services, and can help you exercise your rights related to how we process your personal information (e.g. access, delete, object to it’s usage). We have tools within our platform to allow you to do many of these things on your own directly through our platform. We provide more detailed information on your rights and how you can control your information within our Privacy Policy. We do not control any information you share with third parties through our services that they copy or export for storage or processing outside of our services, or that you share with third parties outside of our services. For example, if you share your information with a customer as a participant when applying or participating in a user research project, they may export information you share with them out of our services. Likewise, if you provide any information directly to a third party (e.g. directly within a customer app you are using as part of a user research project) they control this information. In these scenarios, these third parties are controllers of your data, and they have their own privacy and security policies. You will need to contact them directly to have your information deleted, restricted, or otherwise enforce your rights related to their processing of your information.
